The shared labor pool

Running the courseSuperintendent tier and up4 minute readIn the app: /app/pool

Posting the shift you can't fill, or the people you can spare, and how the trade works.

The course fifteen minutes away has the same seasonal peaks you do, offset by a week or two. A lot of superintendents already text each other in August. The pool makes that trade visible instead of dependent on remembering to text.

Posting

  1. 1Open Labor pool.
  2. 2Post either a shift you need covered, or people you can spare.
  3. 3Say the dates, the work and what you're offering or asking.
  4. 4Close the post when it's resolved so nobody rings about a shift you filled on Tuesday.

What it isn't

  • It isn't a staffing agency. Nobody takes a cut, and there's no contract in the middle.
  • It isn't automatic. Courses talk to each other and arrange it themselves.
  • It isn't payroll. Whoever employs the person still employs them — sort the paperwork between you.
It works best where it's already informal

The friction has never been willingness, it's coordination. If you already know the supers nearby, this mostly saves you the round of phone calls.

Questions

Who can see my post?

Other Fairway courses. Your crew's personal details aren't in the post — you say what you can spare, not who.

What if nobody answers?

Then you're where you started, minus five minutes. It works better in areas with several courses on Fairway.

Didn't answer it?

Tell us what's missing and we'll write it. Help that doesn't cover the thing you came for isn't help.
