The time clock
/app/clockClocking in and out, how the geofence works, approving time, and fixing a punch somebody got wrong.
For the crew
One green button. Tap it to clock in, tap it again at the end of the day to clock out. That's the whole thing.
The geofence
When somebody clocks in, we record how far from the course they were. We don't block the punch — a phone's location can be wrong by a few hundred metres for reasons that have nothing to do with the person holding it, and a clock that refuses to let somebody start work is worse than one that records a note.
- A punch from on the property records as normal.
- A punch from a distance is recorded with the distance attached, so it's visible when you approve time.
- A punch from a phone with location switched off is still recorded, marked as having no location.
Approving time
- 1Open the Clock screen as a manager or owner.
- 2Look down the pay period. Anything unusual — a long shift, a missing clock-out, a punch from off the property — is marked.
- 3Approve what's right. Fix what isn't.
- 4Then pull the payroll file. See Payroll: getting the hours out.
It happens every week at every course. A manager can correct the punch. The correction is recorded as a correction, with who made it — that's what makes the record hold up if it's ever questioned.
No signal in the shop
Punches queue on the phone and sync when there's a connection. The time recorded is when they tapped the button, not when it reached us.
Questions
Can somebody clock in for somebody else?
Not from their own login. That's the main reason to give everybody their own account rather than sharing one.
Does it track people during the day?
No. Location is checked at the moment of a punch and nothing else. There is no ongoing tracking, and there's no screen anywhere that shows where somebody is.
Can I set rounding rules?
Not currently — punches are recorded to the minute as they happened. Overtime is worked out for you at time and a half over 40 hours in a week.
Tell us what's missing and we'll write it. Help that doesn't cover the thing you came for isn't help.
