Applicator licence

The state certification that permits somebody to apply restricted-use pesticides, usually renewed every one to three years with continuing education.
Turf and ornamental work sits in a named category in most states — Category 3 in some, Category E in others — and the letters are not portable between states.
The renewal is the part that catches people. A licence that lapsed in February makes every application made under it since February a records problem, and nobody notices until somebody asks.
What it means for a small course
Expiry dates belong somewhere that warns you in weeks, not somewhere you look once a year.
