Syringing

A light hand-watering during the heat of the day to cool the plant, not to wet the soil.

The water is for the leaf surface. The goal is evaporative cooling on a green that is transpiring faster than the roots can supply, usually on a specific hot spot rather than the whole surface.

It is one of the few jobs where the instruction genuinely is 'go and look at it' — the person with the hose is reading the turf, and no schedule replaces that.

Fairway is built by people who had to learn all of this.
